Mythology

East is a personal, and timeless masterpiece that I have adored since the fifth grade. You would not believe my ecstasy when I heard about the its companion West coming out, and thank the Lord I was able to get first dibs. I will forever, always be in with love with Rose and her white bear and all her family.

First and foremost, this series brings new mythology to the table which I find to be fascinating because I am a huge dork for all things superstition, supernatural and fantasy.

The writing is magic in itself. Every word is woven together to tell a tale that just simply draws you in and you can't nor do you want to escape.

The setting (Njord) was so descriptive to the point where I felt I was right there with Rose as she ventures into her adventures. The mountains, rocking of the sea, the wind. My heart melted due to the love between Rose and her "white bear." Two inseparable beings who make each other whole.

An added bonus, is the reverse role where Rose is the heroin who is constantly saving "prince charming." It was NOT subtle at all nor was it "grand" but it was magical.

The second book touches very little on Rose and Charles' (the white bear) new life, but do not fret the adventure soon takes place after a couple flips or "slides" in my case of pages.

“Necessary wherever the first is popular; a good addition to any collection where fairy-tale retellings circulate well.”—Kirkus Reviews
